Exterminator in Saint-Laurent

Warehouses, businesses and homes

In Saint-Laurent, industry and commerce take up most of the territory, around the Technoparc and the major highways. Warehouses, plants and restaurants sit next to post-war neighbourhoods and newer developments, and each has its own pests.

Saint-Laurent is the second-largest employment hub in the Montreal region after downtown. The Technoparc, where Highways 40 and 13 meet just north of the airport runways, brings together aerospace, pharmaceutical and clean energy companies, and since November 2025, several REM stations, including Montpellier and Côte-de-Liesse, have served the borough.

The residential neighbourhoods span several eras: Norvick, built starting in 1942 under Wartime Housing Limited; Cosmos, which began in 1949 between avenue Sainte-Croix, the Metropolitan Expressway (autoroute Métropolitaine) and the CN rail line; Marlborough, which dates from the fifties; Village Montpellier, built on a former stone quarry near the train station; then Bois-Franc, on the former site of the Cartierville airport, and Nouveau Saint-Laurent, on old farmland.

For pests, that mix creates two realities. In warehouses and plants, mice and rats come in through loading docks, garage doors left open and stored goods; in food businesses, cockroaches join the picture. In post-war houses, mice find foundation cracks and crawl spaces, and near the parks, wasps and skunks settle in soffits and under decks.

Typical problems in Saint-Laurent

A warehouse and a house don't have the same weak spots, but the logic stays the same: find the way in before treating.

Rodents in warehouses and logistics

In a distribution centre, mice often arrive with the merchandise or through a dock door left open during deliveries, then settle into pallets and cardboard. Droppings along the walls, chewed packaging and tracks in the dust are the first signs. We inspect the receiving and storage areas and the outside of the building, then treat and seal the entry points; see our pest control for businesses page.

Cockroaches in commercial kitchens

In a restaurant or food plant, cockroaches hide in the warmth of motors, under equipment and near drains, and they can arrive with deliveries. We inspect the kitchen and storerooms, apply registered products in their hiding spots, then come back to check the results; see our cockroach page.

Mice in post-war houses

In Norvick, Cosmos or Marlborough, houses from the forties and fifties often have a crawl space, cracked foundation walls and dryer or vent outlets without screens. Those are the usual ways in for mice. We deal with the mice already inside first, then seal each opening; see mouse extermination.

Food businesses: the requirements to know

In Montreal, the City inspects food establishments on behalf of Quebec's Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation (MAPAQ). If an establishment fails to follow hygiene and sanitation rules, the City requires corrections and can prosecute, which can lead to a fine. Rats spotted in a restaurant, grocery store or pastry shop should be reported to the City's food inspection service.

The Government of Quebec's guidelines are specific: no animals may be on the premises of a food establishment, with exceptions such as assistance dogs. Windows, doors and air vents must be protected with screens or grilles, the surroundings kept clean and regularly checked for droppings and damaged packaging, any product altered by animals or insects thrown out, and pesticides stored away from food. If the problem persists, Quebec recommends calling an extermination company.

For waste, industries, businesses and institutions in Saint-Laurent get weekly garbage pickup, while buildings with eight units or fewer are collected every two weeks and only the black bins supplied by the borough are emptied there. Between pickups, keep containers and bins closed and away from doors and docks.

Mice in my Saint-Laurent warehouse: where do I start?

Note where you find droppings and chewed packaging: those clues guide the inspection. We then check the docks, garage doors, weatherstripping and the outside of the building before treating and sealing the entry points. Leave a gap between pallets and walls to make monitoring easier.

What does food inspection do if cockroaches are found in my restaurant?

In Montreal, the City inspects restaurants on behalf of MAPAQ: if hygiene rules aren't being followed, it requires corrections and can prosecute. Throw out any food touched by insects and call an extermination company at the first signs. Also keep a record of treatments and corrective measures.

Wasps are building a nest on my store's sign. What should I do?

Don't try to knock it down or spray it, especially if it's near a door used by customers and staff: wasps defend their nest. We destroy the nest safely and check other cavities, such as a soffit or a sign box, that could host another one. Here's how we deal with wasp nests.

Do you work nights or weekends for businesses?

Our service is available 24/7. For a planned treatment, we can agree with you on a time that disrupts your operations as little as possible.

How much does warehouse extermination cost in Saint-Laurent?

Floor area, the number of docks and doors to check, the type of pest and the follow-up you want all affect the price. We visit the premises before putting a number on anything, and the quote is free.
