Exterminator in Boucherville
Between the river, the woods and industry
Boucherville sits between the St. Lawrence, its islands, protected woodlands and two large industrial parks. Wildlife is everywhere, and the City strictly limits outdoor pesticides. Service 24/7, free quotes.
By the river, Vieux-Boucherville, a designated heritage site, has kept its ancestral houses. Across the water, Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville groups five main islands cut by channels. These old houses, where stone foundations carry a wooden frame, give mice and carpenter ants routes that are not always visible from outside.
The City also protects large natural areas: Boisé Pierre-Dansereau, the largest on its territory and closed to the public, Boisé Du Tremblay, shared with Longueuil, and Parc de la Frayère, made up mostly of wetlands. The City itself says this abundance of nature explains why white-tailed deer, raccoons, skunks, squirrels and foxes live on its territory.
Boucherville also has two industrial parks that the City ranks among the largest in Québec, with hundreds of businesses. Warehouses, loading docks and cafeterias offer rodents food and shelter in every season, especially where fields or ditches border the lots.

Wildlife explains a good share of the calls; old and industrial buildings account for the rest.

Lawns torn up by skunks and raccoons
A lawn torn up in patches at dawn often points to white grubs in the soil, and to the animal that came for them: the City names the skunk, the raccoon and the groundhog. The real trouble starts when that animal moves in under the porch or the shed next door: see how skunk removal works.
Groundhogs near farmland and woods
In sectors that border fields and woods, groundhogs settle under a shed or a storage building and come back to the vegetable garden every morning. For groundhog removal, we first locate every burrow exit, then seal the space under the building once the animal is out.
Mice in ancestral houses
In Vieux-Boucherville, mice use stone foundations, gaps between walls and old openings that were closed in a hurry. We look for traces, treat, then seal the passages; the signs are listed on the mice in the walls page.
Rodents in the industrial parks
A warehouse that receives pallets every day keeps its docks open for long stretches, and mice and rats follow. We can agree with the manager on the areas to watch and a follow-up schedule: our pages on commercial pest control and rat extermination say more.
Wildlife, rabies and pesticides: the rules in Boucherville
The City of Boucherville is clear: neither the City nor the Ministry steps in to capture raccoons, skunks and other wild animals on its territory. It suggests tolerating an animal that causes no damage and, otherwise, cutting off its access to food and shelter, for example with metal mesh under sheds, garages and front steps. Since June 2026, Boucherville has also been one of the municipalities where, due to raccoon rabies, transporting live striped skunks, raccoons, foxes or coyotes is prohibited. Québec updates the list and the length of the ban by ministerial order, so check the version in force on Québec.ca.
By-law 2023-388 bans the outdoor application of any pesticide in the city, with exceptions. These include the occasional, localized use of an insecticide to destroy a wasp nest, and ant or rodent baits placed in sealed bait boxes. An infestation requires a City authorization certificate, valid for fourteen consecutive days, and any company applying pesticides for you must hold the annual certificate issued by the City. Applications are done on weekdays, in daytime.
The nuisance by-law prohibits any condition likely to attract vermin or rodents, as well as feeding gulls, pigeons, squirrels or deer in a way that makes them gather. If an animal dies on your property, Proanima, the City's animal services provider, can pick it up with your consent. For a sick or injured wild animal, the City refers residents to SOS Braconnage.

Call 514-231-1615Does the City of Boucherville remove raccoons and skunks?
No. The City states that neither it nor the Ministry steps in to capture these animals. It also points out that, under Québec's wildlife conservation act, you may not capture an animal that damages your property if you can simply scare it away. When that is no longer enough, we trap the animal, remove it as Québec rules provide and seal its way in so another one does not move in.
Can a wasp nest be destroyed in Boucherville despite the pesticide ban?
Yes. By-law 2023-388 makes an exception for the occasional, localized use of an insecticide for the specific purpose of destroying a wasp nest. If a company does the work, it must hold the City's annual certificate. For a nest at ground level, read our page on ground wasp nests; for a large grey nest in a tree, see hornet nests.
Why is my lawn torn up overnight in Boucherville?
White grubs, more often than not: the City notes that groundhogs, skunks and raccoons rake through yards to eat them, especially in spring and fall. It recommends a thick, healthy lawn first; a synthetic pesticide against grubs is only allowed with the City's authorization, as a last resort. If the animal also lives under your porch, it has to come out before the opening is closed; see our raccoon removal page.
Carpenter ants in an ancestral house in Vieux-Boucherville: how can I tell?
Look for large black ants moving around mostly at night, small piles of sawdust mixed with insect bits at the foot of a beam or window frame, and winged ants indoors in late winter or spring. In an old wooden frame, they settle in wood that has stayed damp, near a leak or a window sill. Indoors, By-law 2023-388, which covers outdoor use, does not apply; our carpenter ant page details how we work.
