Exterminator in Dorval
Lakeshore homes, airport and industry
In Dorval, one visit can be an old holiday house on Lake Saint-Louis and the next a warehouse beside the airport. The pests are different, and so are the ways in. We are based in Lachine, the borough next door. Open 24/7, with a free quote after an assessment.
Dorval first grew along the lakeshore road, chemin du Bord-du-Lac. In the 19th century the railway brought families looking for a cool summer by the lake, and several holiday cottages later became year-round homes. Often enlarged over the years, these houses combine sections from different eras. Where old meets new, gaps tend to remain, and that is the route mice take in the fall.
The airport opened in 1941 and reshaped the city. Between 1940 and 1970 new subdivisions spread, including the Dorval Model Homes project, a row of bungalows built on Dahlia Avenue in 1951. On houses like these the weak spots repeat: vented soffits, roof vents and basement window wells. Wasps, squirrels and mice find them every year.
North of Highway 20, Montreal-Trudeau International Airport and the industrial parks bring thousands of workers into Dorval every day. Warehouses, loading docks, hotels and restaurant kitchens keep food and goods moving, and rodents follow. East of the airport, between Highway 20, chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse and 55th Avenue, the City itself pointed in 2022 to a difficult mix of industrial and residential uses. In spots like that, both sides of the fence need watching.

What we often see in Dorval
Four situations keep coming up, each tied to a type of building you find in Dorval.

Mice in lakeshore houses
On the first cool nights, mice go looking for warmth. In a former holiday house they slip in under the sill of an addition, through a crawl space or around a poorly sealed pipe, then travel inside the walls. Treatment alone will not fix it: every opening has to be found, which is why sealing entry points matters so much. Our page on mice in the walls lists the signs to watch for.
Rodents around warehouses and docks
In the airport sector, a dock door left ajar, a pallet of goods or a dumpster with a broken lid is enough to draw mice and rats. For these buildings, follow-up visits can be arranged with the manager. Our commercial pest control page explains how we work where food is handled.
Wasps and squirrels in bungalow soffits
Postwar bungalows have vented soffits and roof vents that wear out. Wasps start building there in early summer, and a squirrel will widen a hole in a vent screen to reach the attic. A wasp nest in a soffit can be treated without tearing off siding at random, and a squirrel in the attic has to be out before the hole is closed.
Bed bugs after a trip
The Québec government points out that bed bugs travel in luggage and clothing and can turn up in the cleanest hotels. With the airport and its hotels right there, Dorval is no exception. When you get home, set suitcases on a hard surface and check the seams before putting them away. Bites in a row or tiny black spots on the mattress? Read our bed bug page.
Our services in Dorval
In Dorval we work in lakeshore houses and bungalows just as often as in the hotels, warehouses and kitchens of the airport sector. Outdoors, By-law RCM-96-2023 decides what can be applied, preventive treatments included, and we factor it in from the quote stage.
Mouse exterminationInspection, targeted treatment and sealed entry points so the mice don't come back.
Rat exterminationPrecise diagnosis, controlled elimination and sealed entry points for rats in walls, foundations and basements.
Cockroach exterminationCockroaches in the kitchen, the bathroom or the building: we find where they hide, treat and follow up.

Spider and crawling insect exterminationSpiders on exterior walls, in the basement or in ceiling corners: we treat the cause and their food source.
Wasp nests and flying insectsSafe destruction of nests under roofs, in walls, in the ground or in trees. Fast response, 24/7.
Wildlife removalRaccoons, skunks and squirrels caught in suitable cages and removed in line with Quebec rules.
Preventive exterior treatmentExterior walls, decks and problem areas, against spiders and insects, with the products and methods your city's by-law allows. What the City of Dorval requires
Since March 2023, By-law RCM-96-2023 has banned outdoor pesticide application everywhere in Dorval, with a few exceptions. For an infestation of ants, spiders or vermin, you need a temporary permit from the City, valid for ten working days. The City has to confirm the infestation first, the permit is posted in a front window, adjoining neighbours get written notice ahead of time and the work is done on weekdays, in daytime. An outdoor treatment has to be planned, so we first check with you if your situation fits one of the exceptions.
On wildlife, the City says wild animals found on or inside private property are no longer captured, and its animal control contractor's role is education and prevention. A raccoon in your attic is the owner's responsibility. The City's animal control by-law bans feeding stray cats and four-legged urban wildlife, and the City asks residents not to feed pigeons and gulls. Wasps or bees swarming a tree on City land are reported to Public Works.
On garbage day, the waste by-law says bins go out after 7 p.m. the evening before, or before 7 a.m. on collection day, and must be back in by 7 p.m. that day. Any locking device on the brown bin has to be disabled for collection, which makes it an easy target for raccoons if it spends the night outside. Québec in fact advises putting bins out in the morning rather than the night before. Rinse the brown bin often and keep it in a closed garage or shed the rest of the week.

Call 514-231-1615Who deals with a raccoon in the attic in Dorval?
The owner, not the City: Dorval says wild animals on or inside private property are no longer captured. It first suggests leaving a light and a radio on to encourage the raccoon to leave, then sealing the openings once it is out. In spring, a female may have young up there, so close nothing until you are sure. If the animal stays put, see our raccoon removal page.
Can I have my house sprayed for spiders in Dorval?
Only within the limits of By-law RCM-96-2023. Some products, such as biopesticides, are still allowed outdoors, but an ordinary insecticide requires a temporary permit that the City grants only once it has confirmed an infestation. A preventive spray with that kind of product is therefore not possible: we review what is allowed with you and first go after what draws spiders, such as evening lights that gather the insects they feed on. See how we handle spiders and crawling insects.
Who do I call for a wasp nest in a tree in Dorval?
If the tree is on City land, in a park for example, the City asks you to call Public Works. If the nest is on your property, under a soffit or in a hedge, an extermination company takes care of it; By-law RCM-96-2023 allows that treatment as long as it is limited to the nest. Never plug the entrance of a nest: the wasps chew a new way out, sometimes toward the inside. See our wasp nest page.
How much does mouse extermination cost for a house in Dorval?
The price depends mostly on how many gaps have to be found and sealed, and on access to the crawl space or attic. A lakeshore house that was enlarged a few times hides more joints than a bungalow built in one go. The quote, given after an inspection, is free: call 514-231-1615 or use our contact page.
