Rat exterminator

Montreal, Laval and the South Shore

A rat spotted in the yard, thumping in the walls, droppings bigger than a mouse's: you need to act fast. Rats are wary, smart and hard to get rid of without a proper method. Our technicians deal with the problem at the source.

Urban density, sewer systems, old buildings and garbage within easy reach make Montreal and the surrounding area good territory for rats. They move from one building to the next through drains, foundation cracks, poorly sealed doors and ducts, then settle into walls, ceilings, crawl spaces and basements.

Beyond the disgust they cause, rats are a real risk to your health and to the building. They chew wood, insulation and electrical wires, which can even lead to a short circuit. And because they breed fast, an infestation that's ignored quickly gets out of control.

The risks of a rat infestation

Health

Rats can spread disease and contaminate surfaces and food.

Damage

Wood, insulation, partition walls, cables: they chew through anything in their way.

Fire

Chewed electrical wires can cause a short circuit.

Reputation

For a restaurant or a store, a rat spotted by a customer is an immediate problem.

Signs you have rats

The sooner you spot the signs, the simpler the treatment.

  • Noises in the walls, ceilings or under the floor, often at night
  • Elongated droppings, much bigger than mouse droppings
  • A strong, lingering smell in an enclosed area
  • Tooth marks on wood, plastic, bags and containers
  • Holes in walls, partitions or the floor, burrows near the foundation
  • Greasy rub marks along walls, nests in quiet corners

How we work

A proven method we've used for over 20 years, adapted to each building.

  1. Full inspection

We look at the infested areas, signs of activity and the routes being used, inside and around the building.

  2. Finding entry points

Drains, cracks, foundations, doors, ducts: we find the openings the rats are using.

  3. Targeted, controlled treatment

A method suited to the situation, applied professionally and safely for the occupants.

  4. Prevention

Blocking entry points, plus advice to keep the problem from coming back.

So the problem doesn't come back

  • Keep food sealed and garbage bins covered, inside and outside.
  • Seal openings around drains, ducts and foundations.
  • Keep the outside tidy: thick vegetation, stacked wood and debris give them shelter.
  • Fix water leaks quickly: rats need to drink.
  • Call at the first sign; the longer you wait, the bigger the infestation gets.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find what you're looking for? A technician answers 24/7.

Call 514-231-1615
How do I tell a rat from a mouse?

A rat is much bigger, with a thick tail and elongated droppings about one to two centimetres long. The noises it makes in the walls are louder too. If in doubt, our inspection confirms which rodent it is, because the treatment isn't the same.

Are store-bought traps enough?

Rarely. Rats are wary and often avoid new objects. Without treating the source and blocking the entry points, the problem persists.

How much does a rat exterminator cost?

The price depends on the level of infestation, the type of building, how complex the job is and access. Contact us for a free quote.
